Covid-19: Katsina state directs total lockdown of Katsina local government area

Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina state has directed for the total lockdown of Katsina local government area with effect from 7.00am on Tuesday April 21,2020 following the confirmation of two new cases of Coronavirus or Covid-19 Pandemic in Katsina Metropolis.

   Addressing Journalists in his residence at General Muhammadu Buhari house, Katsina, Governor Bello Masari said the two new Covid-19 cases were identified by Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) as Businessmen residing at Kofar Kaura Layout and behind Muhammadu Dikko Stadium who had traversing other parts of the Country.


  He said "With this new development Katsina state now has 12 Coronavirus cases, two in Katsina, one in Dutsinma and rest the rest in Daura." Pointing out that, "if single case discovered from any of the remaining 31 local government areas of the state, the area would also be lockdown totally."

   He assured that, Commercial Banks would be allowed to operate to enable Workers access their Salary while the Covid-19 Emergency Response Committee inder the Chairmanship of the state Deputy Governor, Alhaji Mannir Yakubu would identify some Grains, Provision, Pharmaceuticals Stores and Water Vendors to provide services.                          
Governor Masari charged People  to be law abiding, stay at home and directed for restriction of inter - local government movement within the other 31 local government areas except  Katsina, Dutsinma and Daura where the total lockdown applied.
  Governor Aminu Bello Masari warned that, Security Agents would be drafted in all the affected areas to enforce compliance with the lockdown order. stressing that, all necessary measures would be taken to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus or Covid-19 Pandemic across the 34 local government areas in the state.
