Atiku delights electorate, promises economic transformation if elected |

What could be described as the sea of human heads characterized the crowd that thronged Akwa Ibom International Stadium in Uyo, today, venue of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s presidential campaign in the state.
At the event, Alhaji Atiku who is the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) and former Vice President of country promised quick economic transformation in order to address the poverty in the country if voted into power on February 16, presidential election.
Atiku said he was saddened by the down turn of the country’s economy occasioned by the incompetent leadership of the APC led Federal Government.
The former Vice President who said that restructuring of the country was no longer an issue of debate stated that such would even result in more prosperity for the country.
The PDP presidential hopeful who noted that Akwa Ibom has been marginalized in terms federal projects having been the goose that lays the golden egg because of her oil resources, promised to site a refinery in the state.
He attributed every development in Akwa Ibom in the area of education, health, industry and infrastructure to the PDP government in the state, stating that the state would continue to progress as long as they remained in PDP. He urged them not to be deceived into voting for candidates outside the PDP
The PDP Presidential candidate maintained that the APC led government have failed to deliver in their campaign promises by making the economy worse, increasing unemployment and has failed to secure lives and property
He asked the people of Akwa Ibom not to allow the poverty prevalent in many parts of the country to get to the state and pledged to improve the socio economic standing of women and youth while promising to hand over power to a youth when elected
National chairman of the PDP Mr. Uche Secondus said the mammoth crowd remained a testimony of the fact that the PDP is well accepted in the state warning that plans by the opposition to rig the elections in Akwa Ibom would be resisted by the people of the area.
Secondus expressed disappointment over dwindling fortunes of the
country in all sectors even as the actions of President Buhari has continued to remain a threat to the sustenance of democracy and the unity of the country.
He said that Nigerians are ready to recover the country from the inept administration of the APC and expressed belief in the total support of the party from voters in the state.
The chairman warned that those playing gods in the country would soon be disgraced as the cries and sufferings of the people of the country would not let such people go unpunished.
He assured that the National Judicial Council meeting would address the illegalities of Buhari insisting that the President must be made to reverse his decision on the suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice, Walter Onnogben
In his remarks, former Governor of Anambra state and PDP Vice
Presidential candidate Mr. Peter Obi said the present FG has failed to guarantee the security of lives and property of Nigerians while the economy has worsened with vague economic policies and implementation.
Obi regretted that PMB has shown lack of intelligence in the governance of Nigeria and promised that with a sound economic and academic background Abubakar would make Nigeria work again.
Governor Udom Emmanuel in his speech said the event has shown
Nigerians that PDP is domiciled in Akwa Ibom and accused the APC of deceiving President Muhammadu Buhari by hiring non indigenes for their Presidential rally said PDP has always been a religion in Akwa Ibom since the return of democracy.
He stated that with Abubakar Nigeria is assured of a sound economic platform for economic recovery adding that the PDP remained the only party with a clear vision in solving the socio economic problems of the country and blamed the APC for the collapse of the country’s economy and increase in unemployment.
The Governor told Abubakar that Akwa Ibom people have faith in his ability to turn around the misfortunes of the country and reminded the audience that his government has brought hope to the economic recovery of the state and assured that Atiku’s promised to build a refinery in the state remained a reality.
Speaker Onofiok Luke said the party would not be intimidated by the Federal might of the APC as the people of the state are ready to defend their votes with their blood. Luke maintained the victory of
Udom Emmanuel is assured because of his performance in his first tenure.
In his welcome remarks, state chairman of the PDP, Obong Paul Ekpo maintained that PDP remained a religion in the state because the people of the state has not known any other party since 2019
Ekpo assured Atiku that the state has always produced outstanding results for the PDP and promised him that the PDP would reap massive votes from electorate in the state.
Speaking for the people of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, PDP National Legal Adviser Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem accused the APC of dividing and impoverishing Nigerians with bad leadership.
Senator Bassey Albert while welcoming Atiku on behalf of people of Uyo Senatorial District assured the former VP that the result produced by the PDP in Akwa Ibom in previous polls would be reenacted with victory for the party in all the elections.
New Nigerian in Uyo observed according political analysts that the Alhaji Atiku presidential campaign in Uyo, was not only colourful but he best organised political rally so far in terms of setting, orderliness and conduct since the political campaigns begun in the country.
